The Gossi Cave, which offers a 400 million year mystery, is one of Korea's representative caves, and it is said that it was named after the place where the Ko family took refuge at the time of the Imjin War, and it is said that it has also been used as a water center. In the past, you could cross the 130-meter-wide Namhan River by ferry to reach the entrance, but now it is connected to the cave by a bridge.
The cave's development direction is from northeast to southwest and was discovered in 1966. It was designated as Natural Monument No. 219 on June 4, 1969 and opened to the public on May 15, 1974. Gossi Cave is a typical limestone cave with a multi-layered structure consisting of several layers. The lower level is in the form of a horizontal cave where a river flows, and a passage is developed from the entrance in a southwesterly direction. The total length of the main cave is about 950 meters, the length of the tunnel is about 2,438 meters, and the total length of the Gossi Cave is 3,388 meters, of which only about 500 meters is developed for tourism and is open to the public. In the Gossi Cave, various cave products such as stalactites, stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, cave corals, stalmites, curtains, cave pearls, physolite, cave shields, grain stones, and moon oils are distributed, and deformed stalactites also grow at various points.

The name "topography of the Korean Peninsula" was given because it literally resembles the Korean Peninsula when viewed from above. Sunam Village, where you can see the topography of the Korean Peninsula, is located at the end of the Pyeongchang River, which is the main river of the Seogang River.
Places to visit in Yeongwol The best place to see the topography of the Korean Peninsula is the observatory. If you park your car in the parking lot on the Korean Peninsula and walk along the mountain road, you will come to the observatory. There are almost no slopes and the path is well paved, so it is about the difficulty of a light walk. If you walk up for about 20 minutes, you can enjoy the panoramic scenery and the topography of the Korean Peninsula with a strong presence. The uniquely shaped terrain arose due to the different flow rates flowing inside and outside the river. The outside flowed quickly, carving through the cliffs, while the inside flowed slowly, piling up sand. By repeating this process, a unique bend was created.
If you want to enjoy the topography of the Korean Peninsula more fully, why not go to the Korean Peninsula Raft Village? The Sunam Village Raft departs from the East Sea of the Korean Peninsula created by the flow of the Pyeongchang River and travels 1km round trip to the west coast.
