The name "topography of the Korean Peninsula" was given because it literally resembles the Korean Peninsula when viewed from above. Sunam Village, where you can see the topography of the Korean Peninsula, is located at the end of the Pyeongchang River, which is the main river of the Seogang River.
Places to visit in Yeongwol The best place to see the topography of the Korean Peninsula is the observatory. If you park your car in the parking lot on the Korean Peninsula and walk along the mountain road, you will come to the observatory. There are almost no slopes and the path is well paved, so it is about the difficulty of a light walk. If you walk up for about 20 minutes, you can enjoy the panoramic scenery and the topography of the Korean Peninsula with a strong presence. The uniquely shaped terrain arose due to the different flow rates flowing inside and outside the river. The outside flowed quickly, carving through the cliffs, while the inside flowed slowly, piling up sand. By repeating this process, a unique bend was created.
If you want to enjoy the topography of the Korean Peninsula more fully, why not go to the Korean Peninsula Raft Village? The Sunam Village Raft departs from the East Sea of the Korean Peninsula created by the flow of the Pyeongchang River and travels 1km round trip to the west coast.

Cheongpungnaru was a ferry crossing on Cheongpung Lake, located in Cheongpung-myeon, Jecheon-si, North Chungcheong Province. While the exact date of its construction is unknown, it appears to have been used since before the Joseon Dynasty. Before the flooding, the river was approximately 250 meters wide. Due to the rapids and shallow waters, boats used oars to navigate the river. The ferry was used by schoolchildren to commute, and local residents to gather wood or sell firewood at the Cheongpung Market. The ferry carried 60 to 70 passengers a day. With the construction of the Chungju Dam, which formed Cheongpung Lake, a pier was opened at the former site in September 1984. Cheongpungnaru serves as the departure and arrival point for cruise ships plying the lake. Parking is available in the dedicated parking lot, and passengers must then proceed to the boarding area. Once at the pier, they will fill out a boarding form and submit it to the ticket booth along with their ID. Upon verification, they will be issued a boarding pass. A round trip from Cheongpung Ferry to Jangheung Ferry takes about an hour and a half, and passengers are advised to arrive at the boarding point 30 minutes before departure. Boarding a cruise from here allows you to enjoy the surrounding scenery, which blends seamlessly with the lake. The Cheongpung-Janghoe Ferry route, in particular, is a popular destination, offering panoramic views of Chungju Lake, including the Chungju Bridge, Oksunbong Peak, Gudambong Peak, and Geumsu Mountain.

Haeundae Beach Train Line: Mipo Station – Dalmaji Tunnel – Cheongsapo Station – Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory – Gudeokpo Port – Songjeong Station
Located at the eastern end of Haeundae, Mipo is also the site of Haeundae Beach Train’s Mipo Station. This beautiful port boasts a great view of the contrast between the skyscrapers of Haeundae on one side and the lights from the small fishing boats lining the coast on the other. Take slow steps to the Mipo Blueline Park square. “Blue Line” is the official name of Haeundae Beach Train. From Mipo Port to Songjeong, the entire trail is decked out in wooden platforms. Some staircases lead you around the coastal cliffs to an amazing view of the sea. Seeing Haeundae from Daritdol Observatory gives a whole new vibe to the district’s skyscrapers. Dalmaji Tunnel, once painted with a whitish gray, now features different colors.
These signposts lead you through Busan Green Railway while letting you know your current location on the trail and the remaining distance to the next section. An old-fashioned beach train runs by the trail at a leisurely pace, bringing the mountains and the seas together to create unique scenery. Cheongsapo Port’s view is completed by the sharp contrast of red and white from the Twin Lighthouses, the blue sea, and the sky. If you’re feeling brave, walk on the transparent Daritdol Observatory, and watch the waves striking the rocks far below.
The second half of the walking trail is made up of the Gudeokpo–Songjeong section. If you’re walking all the way from Mipo Port, you might have to rest your legs a bit. There are plenty of spots for you to take a breather and enjoy the sight of the sea all the way to the horizon. Slightly further is Jukdo Park at the end of Songjeong Beach, which would be a great place to wrap up this walk. If you’re lucky enough to arrive during sunset hours, you can enjoy an unparalleled view of the sunset descending into the sea.
